EAST COAST RESOURCES AND REFERRALS
I recently returned to the East Coast and am building this list slowly, on purpose. Some of the people here I’ve come to know through patients we’ve shared. Others are colleagues I’ve referred to for years, or have gotten to know personally and/or professionally. A few I’ve only begun talking with, but their values and approach to care resonated with me. Everyone here is someone I’d feel good sending someone I care about to.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org.
Not sure if it’s an emergency? Start with 988. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. Please note, this site is not monitored for urgent needs.
Psychiatry & Medication Management
Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners who provide evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management. Some practices also offer therapy or specialized treatments. My notes describe the kinds of concerns I most often refer for.
PSYCHIATRISTS
Medical doctors who specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions. Psychiatrists can prescribe medication and may also provide consultation or ongoing medication management.
PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTIONERS
Advanced practice nurses with specialized training in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and medication management. Psychiatric nurse practitioners can prescribe medication and often take a collaborative, holistic approach to care.

Astra was founded by two longtime friends and psychiatric clinicians who shared a vision for more thoughtful, personalized mental healthcare. Our approach combines comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, evidence-based treatment, and careful medication management with a genuine commitment to understanding the whole person. We believe patients deserve to feel heard, actively participate in their care, and understand the reasoning behind every treatment decision.
We provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing psychiatric care for patients ages 13 and older. We offer in-person appointments in Bethany Beach, Delaware, and telehealth throughout Delaware, Connecticut, and New York.
We accept insurance, although coverage varies by plan and provider. Patients are encouraged to reach out so we can verify their specific coverage. Sliding-scale options may also be available when appropriate.

Nick Stanzione, MSN, PMHNP-BC
Co-Founder | Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Nick takes a thoughtful, investigative approach to psychiatric care, recognizing that symptoms often have multiple overlapping causes and that an accurate diagnosis requires understanding the whole person. He emphasizes comprehensive evaluation, careful medication management, and individualized treatment rather than one-size-fits-all solutions. His collaborative style encourages patients to ask questions, understand the reasoning behind recommendations, and take an active role in decisions about their care.
Kris Generales, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Co-Founder | Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Kris combines doctoral-level clinical training with over a decade of experience across inpatient and outpatient mental healthcare. He believes effective psychiatric treatment begins with trust, honesty, and giving patients a meaningful voice in their care. His approachable, straightforward, and nonjudgmental style helps patients feel comfortable navigating difficult conversations while developing practical, individualized treatment plans built around their goals and circumstances.
What drew me to this practice: Their careful, unhurried approach. They take time with patients, think carefully before adding medications, and work to avoid unnecessary polypharmacy. Their values align closely with how I approach care.
Therapy & Counseling
Licensed therapists who work with individuals, couples, or families. Many have broad practices. Where they bring particular experience, such as later-life transitions, caregiving, or adjusting to a diagnosis, I’ve noted it.
FAMILY / COUPLE THERAPISTS
Licensed therapists who work with couples and families, offering couples therapy, family therapy, or both, based on need.
